Surfing Samoa is simply great with the potential to offer surf all year round, subject to swell and wind conditions naturally you can really enjoy the quality of Pacific Surfing to its fullest.

The surf season is clearly identified in three main date ranges: May to September; February to April and including October; and finally November to January.

The most consistent swells come from way down in the southern ocean and Intensifies as it approaches the island, May to September the south shore sees the majority of the action. During the peak swell months (May-Sep) there will be days when there is very little wind and conditions will be perfect for glassy tubes and perfect take offs!.

During the months of February to April (and in October) the South Shore breaks can get extremely world-class with again glassy and clean conditions due to simply no wind. South West swells (generally not as large as May-Sep months) are common over this period as well but perhaps not as consistent. During this same period the North Shore of the island will have good waves as well due to those famous north shores Hawaiian swells pushing down to the Pacific and reaching Samoa.

During November to January "Summer" is when the north shore of Samoa surfing is at its best. North swells originating in Alaska travel via Hawaii and hit Samoa's north shore. These swells are both fun and exciting to ride and make surfing Samoa one of the best experiences in the My Surf Travel programme.

Some of the surfing breaks on Samoa include Tiavea Bay provides a series of quality breaks so you will not be disappointed here for sure. Fagaloa Bay offers a series of points, not dissimilar to Noosa in Australia as they wrap down the line. Solo Solo: Three separate, medium length hollow right-handers and then you have Dragons Breath and this wave is world class, possibly the best set up on the island of Samoa.
