The British Virgin Islands has become a secret hideaway for surfers for years, it's not the most consistent of places but it offers the opportunity of some very good surf in the most wonderful of settings in beautiful turquoise waters. If you are prepared to wait and see for the swell then this is the destination for you.
The British Virgin Islands together with its surrounding islands make up a huge semicircle curve that separates the Caribbean from the North Atlantic. The British Virgin Islands sits on the northern point of this curve and its positioning that puts it in a great place to pick up swell coming from off the northern waters.
Apple Bay (or Capoon's Bay if you ask some locals) is located close to Tortola's West End. Bomba's Shack is located here and is named after the famous bar that hosts monthly Full Moon parties. Great surfing is to be had at Apple Bay.
Cane Garden Bay: When it's on, it's on. Catch some big waves here when the conditions are right. Just be sure to mind the reef! Cane Garden Bay surfing is legendary.
Josiah's Bay: A great all-around surf spot with consistently good conditions. It's even a good spot for the kids in the family.
